Ingredients:
- 4 Tbs. Olive oil
- 1 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 ½ cup grated carrot
- 4 stalks chopped celery
- 2 garlic clove, minced
- 2 lbs bulk Italian sausage, spicy hot
- 1 28 oz. can diced tomatoes
- 3 quarts chicken stock
- 1 quart water
- 2 lbs lentils, rinsed and picked over
- 2 tbs. vinegar
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 4 bay leaves
- 1 ½ tsp. salt
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried red pepper flakes
- 1 tsp fennel seeds
Top with freshly grated parmesan cheese and serve with a thick slice of crusty bread.

I didn't know you made it yourself. It makes a lot more sense why you were so excited that it tasted exactly the same, then :)
Jason, have you and Andrea been to Carrabbas? If not, you really need to go. You would love the food there. Especially the calamari Ricardo.

Yeah, we've been there. Not for a little while, though... had a double date there a couple years ago. Or maybe that was Cinzetti's. We've been to both places, but I can never remember which is which.
Usually for Italian food we go to the Olive Garden. About half the time I get their unlimited soup & salad (they have a really good sausage soup, don't know what it's called). The other half I get a pizza.
Carrabbas makes Olive Garden look like McDonald's. :) You'd love it. I think.
jason- I know which soup you are talking about at Olive garden. I get it everytime I go. It's so good. Also, Carrabas is a nice italian restaurant, and Cinzetti's is a nice italian Buffet :)
